Description
6″ E27 Ceiling Pendant Set. As a consequence of this adoption RPP have developed a version of the well-established standard 6” pendant set with a fitted E27 lampholder, reference OM6PSE27, within its Omega range of products. Although pre-wired the lampholder itself can be removed and replaced with a bayonet cap version if required although the original pendant set with the BC lampholder will continue to be available.

The Edison Screw (ES) lamp holder has been around for a considerable amount of time and is established as the standard lamp fitting connector throughout Europe. However, the alternative bayonet cap (BC) connection was adopted by the UK and then rolled-out throughout the countries where the UK electrical system was adopted, which tended to be the previous British colonies.
Originating from the company of the American, Thomas Edison, there are many types or thread size styles of ES fittings used throughout the United States. The two principal thread sizes and styles adopted across Europe are the small ES14, used on table and wall lights and the larger E27 for the majority of other applications.
The increasing globalisation of supplies mainly derived from the far-east naturally targeted the large European market of E27 applications but inevitably, assisted by the rapid development of internet re-sellers, such products found their way into the UK alongside the traditional BC connector. Further change was assisted by the fact that many of the initial energy saving lamps and more recently those for smart home applications were E27 based products.
The body of the right hand clockwise twist thread of the E27 carries the neutral where the tip or bottom of the lamp is the live connection.
